Babson Center for Global Commerce

A Wm. Polk Carey Pre-Business Program

Babson Center Distinguished Visitors: Learning From The Leaders

An important part of the Babson Center mission is to provide a continuing conversation among the college community about important issues in global commerce. The Babson Center’s ongoing programs, the Graham Executives in Residence, Humphreys Residencies, and the Bryan Viewpoints Speaker Series give Sewanee students with career interests in management, international business, and finance regular opportunities to hear firsthand from global business leaders whose experience, knowledge, and skills have carried them to the top of their fields.

Executives in Residence

Sometimes, there's nothing like learning from the leaders, and Sewanee students have the opportunity to meet business leaders who come to the campus. Two programs, the Graham Executives in Residence and the Humphreys Residencies, give students direct personal contact with senior business executives who share their knowledge and experience.

The Graham Residencies bring distinguished business leaders to the Sewanee campus where they offer insight into business leadership issues, and have one-on-one career meetings with students. Many of these business leaders also offer Sewanee students access to potential job and internship opportunities.During their multi-day visits, Graham Executives in Residence teach classes, advise students on career paths and give a public lecture. The Graham Executive in Residence program was established by Diane and Henry H. Graham Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla.

The Humphreys Residencies focus on the topics of entrepreneurship and business leadership. Many Sewanee students have shown strong interest in these topics. The series brings executives to Sewanee to meet informally with students, visit classes, and deliver a public lecture. This program is endowed by David and Debra Humphreys of Joplin, Mo.

Viewpoints Speaker Series

The Bryan Viewpoints Speaker Series provides Sewanee students regular opportunities to hear leaders discuss timely and important ideas in business, public policy, economic theory, and business ethics.

During a one-day visit to Sewanee, speakers give a public talk, meet with students to discuss career issues, and teach a class.

The series is funded by  a major gift from Peggy and J.F. Bryan IV, C’ 65.
